A comprehensive review article summarizing the past, present, and future of phage therapy research and practice in the Czech Republic was recently published in the prestigious scientific journal Virology Journal. The article, titled “Past and present phage therapy research and practice in the Czech Republic”, details historical milestones from the first applications to current innovations in the field of biotechnology. The publication thus confirms the significant position of our country in the pan-European effort to manage increasing antimicrobial resistance.
It is a great honor for us that a representative from our company is also a co-author of this exceptionally important publication. Moreover, in the text itself, AUMED, a.s. is highlighted several times for its contribution to the development of modern phage preparations. The article draws attention to our innovative activities in the development of topical preparations aimed at reducing skin colonization by the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium, which is associated with atopic dermatitis. It also mentions our ongoing research in the treatment of recurrent bacterial vaginosis and the successful Phage Glow dermocosmetic line for acne-prone and eczematous skin. The authors of the study also appreciated that our company’s acquisition of the rights and strains from the historical production of the Stafal preparation helped preserve the necessary continuity and infrastructure for Czech phage research.
For us, this publication is further confirmation that our strategic focus on the development and application of bacteriophage therapies is a step in the right direction and has immense potential for modern human medicine. We will continue our efforts to bring effective and safe innovative solutions to the market.
